LIFESTYLE: PINK HEMPCRETE

Overtreders W, a Dutch architectural design studio, has used reclaimed timber and hempcrete, a new composite material made from wet-mixing hemp shiv with a lime binder, to create a demountable pavilion in the Netherlands. The hemp fibres used were sourced locally from a farmer outside the city and mixed with natural pink pigments from madder dye plants. The attraction, known as The Voice of Urban Nature, invites spectators to absorb the joyous gradient of pink hues contrasted with tones of green from the surrounding gardens.
